Happy New Year!
Well, we made it, folks! It’s certainly been a strange year for me. It often felt unproductive and stagnant, but as I reflect on the year I realize I got a lot of stuff done!
The biggest change for me was a lack of drafting a novel—the first time in years that’s ever happened! I think that contributed to my mindset that I’d done “nothing,” but looking back that really wasn’t the case.
Some Highlights
I Knew Him Audio
Ever since I signed my contract for publishing I Knew Him back in 2018, readers have been asking me if there would be an audiobook available. It was really important to me to achieve this someday and make my work more accessible. So, this year, I finally got it done! And I’m really happy with the result overall. The narrator Jason did a beautiful job with my words. I couldn’t ask for anyone better!
Midnight
This year has felt so long and unending, I’d actually forgotten that I published Midnight this year! I wrote the poems in 2020 and let them sit for a while. Coming back to edit and revise them in 2021 offered new perspective. I’m really happy with how they all turned out.
Moving Forward
I haven’t yet figured out what all my goals are for 2022, but I plan on keeping it pretty lowkey. Mostly, I want to submit my 3rd novel to several presses and see what comes of it. I would also like to edit and revise my old compositions and publish them so others may potentially get some use of them.
New Twitter, Who’s This?
As the year begins, I decided to start fresh over on Twitter. My account has long been a point of stress for me, and after months of deliberation, I decided to lock up shop on my old account and begin a new one. If you follow my old account, you will still be able to access it. All I’ve done is lock the account from new followers and change the handle. I plan on using it as an archive in case I need to refer back to old tweets.
When I made that account on Twitter, I was still a university student. I believe I even began using it because I wanted to enter a contest. Over the years before becoming a published author, I used it as a personal account. As such, the algorithm on my timeline was showing me all kinds of things based on my interests over the years. It was a chaotic experience looking at my timeline, and I began to enjoy it less and less. Not to mention I was following a ton of people I’d followed years ago for reasons I don’t even remember. I didn’t even know who some of these accounts were anymore! So, instead of taking time and great pains to restore my account to some level of calm, I decided to just pull the plug and start again. I plan to be much more selective in what and whom I follow in order to keep my experience enjoyable.
If you’d like to continue supporting me via Twitter, my handle remains the same.
And that’s all I got for now! May 2022 be a good year for you all! Thank you for sticking with me.
